Things to Carry for Winter Camping in Snow Trek
Imagine yourself up on the mountain, looking over a stunning snow-covered landscape. You are so mesmerised by the view and decide to set the camp right there. But while unpacking the gear, you realise that you forgot your night light or thermals or have nothing to cook. How would you feel when you are in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nothing but snow and you don't have something so important.

Here is a checklist for things to carry while trekking that will make you snow trek ready right away:
- Trekking Shoes: Always carry waterproof trekking shoes that have an adequate grip. It will be worth investing in good quality shoes.
- Backpack with Raincover: While buying your backpack, make sure to check the straps. Most noteworthy, some side pockets and departments are provided and in case the backpack has a supporting frame fitted.
- Walking Pole: For that extra support in rough terrains, it is always a good idea to carry a walking pole.
- Head Torch: Carrying a head torch will help in managing things at night time.
- Water Bottle/Thermos: A water bottle or thermos is one of the most important things which will sustain in the harsh conditions too.
- Snacks: You should pack in your backpack some light snacks that may not need fire or water to cook. In case you are carrying your stove, pack ready to cook snacks like instant Upma, Poha, Oats or some soups.
- Headgears: Carry your woollen caps, sun caps, woollen bandanas to cover your face and neck and dark sunglasses that covers your eyes properly.
- Comfortable & Necessary Clothing: Pack only such clothing that you are comfortable in. Must carry clothing are:
- Trekking pants and t-shirts
- Fleece tees and jacket
- Windproof and waterproof, padded jacket
- Poncho
- Thermal Inners
- Footwear & Feet Protection: As mentioned before good quality, well-fitted trekking shoes, an extra pair of floaters, cotton as well as woollen socks are a few of the must-have things to carry while trekking.
- Toiletries: It is always suggested to carry moisturizer, sunscreen, lip balm, face wash, lightweight towel & napkins, toilet paper and hand sanitiser in a waterproof toiletry bag.
- Cutlery: Carry your travel-friendly coffee mug, a spoon and fork and a travel-friendly lunch box as it has many benefits. If you plan to cook your meal this helps to clean and carry it along to the next stop, not creating any waste.
- First Aid Kit: Consider packing a few important medicines in your first aid kit like pain killers, knee and back support, antifungal powder, bandages, cold, cough and fever medicines, energy drink powder, instant pain relief spray etc.
Being prepared can prove wrong, especially when you plan for a snow trek where one has to be prepared for harsh climates too.
